Abilyne (Abby) Cantu

RESPIRATORY THERAPIST, CRT

Abilyne “Abby” Cantu-Martinez, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Growing up in a city rich in culture, community, and resilience shaped her passion for helping others and serving families during their most vulnerable moments. She is a dedicated and compassionate respiratory therapist with over eight years of experience in both pediatric and adult care.

In 2016, she graduated from St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, where she built the strong educational foundation that launched her career in respiratory therapy. Since then, she has gained valuable hospital experience working at Methodist Children’s Hospital, Mission Trail Baptist Hospital, and in Adult Transition Care. Each role has deepened her understanding of patient-centered care and reinforced the importance of collaboration between healthcare professionals and families.

Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working in highly specialized and critical care environments, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Adult Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Care settings. These experiences have strengthened not only her clinical expertise but also her ability to provide calm, knowledgeable, and empathetic care during life-altering situations.

One of the most meaningful aspects of her career is supporting families beyond the hospital setting. She looks forward to continuing to grow professionally while assisting families in building the confidence and skills needed to transition from bedside hospital care to a successful home health journey. Empowering families with education, reassurance, and practical tools is something she is truly passionate about.

She is proud of the work she has accomplished thus far and remains focused on expanding her knowledge and making a lasting impact in the lives of the patients and families she serves.
