In home respiratory care, experience shows up in the details.
It’s in how transitions are handled, how families are supported, and how care teams know they’re not alone once a patient leaves the hospital.
At Wave & Sail Healthcare, that experience has been built over time, through listening, learning, and showing up for the moments that matter most.
Saddled Up From the Start
Wave Healthcare was founded in 2007 by Rodney Gray, a board-certified Respiratory Therapist and Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, with a clear goal: to improve healthcare for the children of Texas.
From the beginning, the focus was never just on delivering equipment. It was to create a care plan tailored to each child that supports their health and quality of life overall. That focus continues to guide how care is delivered and how families are supported.
Caregivers and families were never an afterthought. As the DME partner in the home, Wave recognized that education, consistency, and reassurance are just as critical as the equipment itself. That belief continues to guide how care is delivered and how families are supported every step of the way.
Experience That Lives in the Details
Home respiratory care requires more than logistics. As the durable medical equipment (DME) provider, Wave is responsible for how care actually works once families are home not just what arrives at the door.
Through years of hands-on experience, Wave learned how to:
- Support children with ongoing respiratory needs in real home environments
- Educate caregivers so routines feel achievable, not overwhelming
- Work in step with clinicians and case managers to keep discharges moving smoothly
- Stay responsive when plans change, because they often do
Technology has changed. The commitment to steady, thoughtful care has not.
Riding Into the Next Chapter
As Wave patients grew older, families and caregivers began asking an important question: what happens when pediatric care ends, but respiratory needs continue?
That question led to the creation of Sail Healthcare.
Working closely with Rodney for more than a decade, Matt Ford, whose background spans healthcare, senior care, and consulting, saw firsthand the impact Wave’s approach had on patients and families. Rather than stretching Wave into a one-size-fits-all model, the decision was made to build a separate organization focused specifically on adult respiratory care.
Sail was founded with intention. Its teams, training, and services were designed to meet adult needs while carrying forward the same values that define Wave: education, reliability, and patient-centered care.
Together, Wave and Sail support patients across different stages of life, recognizing that while needs change, the importance of trusted support does not.
A Trusted Partner for Care Teams
Case managers and clinicians partner with Wave & Sail because they know what to expect: clear communication, dependable follow-through, and teams who understand the realities of discharge planning and long-term care.
That trust has been earned by answering the call, following through, and treating every referral with care. We understand the pressure care teams carry, and we work alongside them to help make transitions smoother and care more consistent.
Still Learning. Still Showing Up.
Saying “this ain’t our first rodeo” doesn’t mean we’ve seen it all.
It means we’ve learned what matters most, how to stay steady, responsive, and grounded when families need support the most.
Wave & Sail continue to refine our approach, strengthen partnerships, and invest in education and technology that improve care at home.
Because experience isn’t about looking back.
It’s about being ready for what’s next.
And when it comes to home respiratory care, Wave & Sail are right where we belong.
